Praise the Lord for Change
So, I blogged about camp a couple of days ago but I feel like you all would be very interested in what happened to me on July 10, 2006(This day is comparable to what happened on November 11, 2005 according to Sarah, (Go to Laughter is Medicine and see what I mean)).
So the day started late because we love to sleep in. I had no clean clothes so as my clothes where drying I sat around in my pajamas for like two hours. In the mean time Alice, Tori and Mickey left for Krakow to see their home churches team, leaving Tomek, Marta, Becky and I alone for the day. That would have been wonderful if we would have had our bright orange van, the slimak(snail), but the slimak was in the shop getting fixed so we were playing cars with the Hashes who are amazing people. So at like 2 Marta and Tomek picked us up in Laura Hashes car and we were going to go to the grocery store and then McDonalds, but Becky had to run back inside and Tomek started to ask me if we could make donuts and if I was ok with that. Well, actually I was confused about how we could make donuts, but if Tomek wanted to more power to him. After a few minutes of confused dialogue between Tomek and I, Marta chimed in and was like how do you feel about going to McDonalds. You see Tomek was asking me about going to McDonalds and I was really confused. It sounds very similar when he says it.
Once we had that worked out and Becky was in the car we were on our way. Along the way we saw a couple of prostitutes along the side of the road and Marta and Tomek told us all about how the Polish government feels about it, which was really good to know. Once we got to the grocery store and we were almost inside, Marta(our chief-financial-officer) realized that she had forgotten her wallet, mine was in the garage apartment, Becky's was with Tori and Tomek had approximately 15 zl in his wallet. So we got some bread, lettuce, yogurt and then each of us some ice cream on 15 zl. It also took us about 25 minutes longer than it should have as the cash register for the line we were in broke and they tried to fix it and then moved us to a different line. So back at the Hashes we were prepared to sit around until around 6 when the Octavia(Laura's car) was available because the slimak was not going to be ready until the next day. But then Marta realized she had to go to the doctor that night and so with quick thinking Becky and I went with Laura to the Mall were we would wait for Marta and Tomek who would join us after Marta's appointment. About 4 minutes from the Hashes we get a call that the slimak is actually ready. Praise God for all the stress.
Off to the mall, where Becky and I spent a lot of money, probably more than we should have, but it was fun anyway. So in the Apteka, Becky was looking at nail polish when one slipped out of her hand(yeah, you know the story) and broke all over the floor and onto some girls white pants. Becky was a little embarassed, but they shooed us away and so we went. We then had coffee and got some wierd stares as we sat there with our bags and we wrote in our journals and it was very unpolish. Then Becky who didn't have coffee found another coffee shop with the Chai Latte she wanted and so she tried to order it with some vanilla in it and the guy totally didn't understand and it was really funny. About then Marta and Tomek joined us. We saw a woman who's shorts were literally allowing her butt cheeks to hang out, now I know that you can't visualize it unless you have seen it, but it was crazy.
We then left the mall and went to dinner at the Sphinx, which was really good. But I who have had major allergies recently went to the restroom to take care of my nose, found that the circle and triangle on the door was rather confusing and I didn't want to walk into the wrong one. So I stood there looking at the doors racking my brain and finally a guy who worked there showed me the right one. Praise the Lord.
We then went to the grocery store for groceries for us for the next day. We divided the list and conquered it. In line, because they were so confusing, Tomek and Becky put some Halls cough drops into this couples cart, then they fell out of the cart and the gentlemen picked them back up and put them on the conveyer belt. It was really funny. The day ended fairly normal with us arriving back at Alice's apartment at around 11 and Alice and Tori coming about 20 minutes later.
Praise God for days that you can look back on and love all the crazy things that happened.
