10,000 BC

Directed by Roland Emmerich. with Steven Strait, Camille Belle, Cliff Virgel
Rated: PG-13 for violence
This was a very interesting movie. It supposedly takes place in the year 10,000 bc and it is about a tribe of people the Yaghal about a boy named D'Leh who is in love with a childhood sweetheart named Evelot. The tribe hunts mammoth every year for their livelyhood. Through many circumstances, Evelot and half the tribe get kidnapped to be slaves. This sends D'Leh on an adventure through wild lands to retrieve his beloved Evolet.
This movie is supposedly based in Africa around the year 10,000 BC. However, I found it more useful to think of this movie in an alternate universe. The weather and climate changes that happen within a days walk of each other are unrealistic and some of the magical things that happen are a bit out there as well.
Some of the good qualities are there are some really cool action scenes. The people show a sense of companionship and friendship throughout the movie that transcends even some difference of opinions about things.
I would recommend this movie if you want a good time. I personally thought it could have been put together better. Although this is a fun movie, I would not put it onto my top ten list!
Happy Watching!
