The Piano

Directed by Jane Campion, with Holly Hunter, Anna Paquin, Harvey Keitel, Sam Neill.
Rated R for extremely graphic sexuality and nudity. Also some minor violence.
The Piano is about a Scottish woman who cannot speak along with her daughter goes to New Zealand to marry a man she is betrothed to in the 1880's. When she arrives she has only her piano her most prized possession and her own wiles. She is a very spirited person and soon falls not for the man she is betrothed to but a rough man who works for the men in the country. Everything here revolves around her love for her piano and the music that she played.
Although this movie won 3 oscars for best actress, best supporting actress and best writing for a screes play, it was not a great movie. I felt that the story and the acting was fine, the problem I had with it is that there was a lot of sexuality and nudity both male and female. It took up a lot of the movie and unfortunately, we had to fast forward. The other thing that I did not like was that it felt like Hunters character what being taken advantage of most of the movie.
I would not recommend this movie. Although there are some good parts in it and this is Anna Paquin did a great job, its not really worth all the nude moments in this movie.
